This study is motivated by the importance of understanding implicit meaning in communication through a pragmatic analysis, particularly presuppositions in film dialogue. This study aims to identify types of presuppositions, explain their realization in characters’ speech, and analyze their contribution to the construction of meaning in the K-Pop film Demon Hunters. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation and content analysis techniques on the film script. The results show that there are 173 instances of presuppositions comprising six types: existential (83), structural (37), factual (27), lexical (20), counterfactual (5), and non-factual (1), with a predominance of existential presuppositions. Presuppositions are realized through various linguistic forms such as noun phrases, factual verbs, interrogative sentence structures, and specific lexical choices. Furthermore, presuppositions play a crucial role in constructing the meaning of dialogue, such as characterizing characters, clarifying relationships between characters, presenting conflicts, and implicitly supporting the development of the plot. The implications of this study suggest that presupposition analysis can help in understanding the implied meaning in film dialogue and enrich pragmatic studies within the context of popular media.
